Update 2025-10-27: WE'RE SO BACK. Divinicide has been unbanned.

A controversial Neocities account, Divinicide, got banned for three words which were too edgy for the platform, I'm not going to even quote what those words were out of fear of reprisal, but you can find it in the comments. Even in the smallest corners of the indie web, the eye of Sauron is watching.

Every evolution of warfare has increased the distance between opponents, from spears and swords, to firearms, to robotic weapons platforms. In the current meta, enemies have never been more distant, either physically or psychologically. The dehumanization of humanity is nearly complete, now we can kill and silence others through a screen, fully enforced by the law, the state, the totalitarian powers of the world.

SiPo Tactics

Citizen, do you know your Gestapo from your Schutzstaffel? Your Sicherheitspolizei from your Waffen SS? They have historically relied upon informants, people who would destroy their neighbors lives in exchange for nothing. All it takes is hatred of one's neighbor.

This is my interpretation of what happened. On October 24, 2025, Divinicide posted a page mocking Bluesky and Reddit for harboring people who have a non-consensual kink, one can use their imagination or just browse those sites to find out what that is. They posted screenshots of users complaining about site policies which removed such content from their platforms. This caught the attention of some of these people, seeking to retaliate against Divinicide.

The greatest irony is that the three words that got Divinicide banned, is a joke about their non-consensual kink. But more importantly, it mocked a powerful, morally bankrupt person in government, and that is precisely the trouble. This is what allowed the anonymous person to report the words taken out of context.

However, here's a plausible parallel construction of what happened. The commercial search engines and bots crawling the web funnel their data to government data centers, which are alerted on keywords and mentions of government officials. They outsource their online policing to private entities who try to censor, report, deplatform such content, this way they have deniability of direct involvement. While these jannies may be poorly compensated, some useful idiots do it for free.

Chilling Effect

It has become nearly impossible to be a genuine human being in this world. Every day that passes becomes darker, where eventually no human expression is possible, anyone who does will be a sense offender. I am offended by sterile art that is optimized for engagement and disturbs no one. Art should boil the comfortable, and incinerate the disturbed.

If we show solidarity with Divinicide, we may get banned as well, and it will have little to no effect on the platform's bottom line. Most users don't have much to say, some would even prefer that the community be policed for any content which may offend them. This is alarming for anyone who cares about the truth at all.
